Attorney at Law
Whether you are a young couple needing wills after the birth of a child, a grandparent eager to maximize a legacy for descendants, or an entrepreneur looking to make your business dream a reality, I have the experience to help.
I have been counseling individuals and families with respect to wealth preservation and transfer since 2001. After graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, I began my legal career as an estate planning attorney for the Private Client Group of Ropes and Gray LLP in Boston. Upon moving to Greenville in 2005, I joined Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann, P.C. (now Smith Moore Leatherwood), and in 2008 I opened my own firm, Schumacher Law, LLC.
My legal practice has always focused on estate planning and settlement, asset protection, business succession planning, and trust administration. I have been listed Best Lawyers in America for Trusts and Estates every year since 2008 and am currently President of the Greenville Estate Planning Council. I am also an active member of the Greenville Estate Planning Study Group.
I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wife, Catherine (a Spartanburg native), and our two boys, Thomas and William. I am a true believer in the power of creative play to improve lives. To that end, I started training in Wado-Ryu karate at age 38; I currently hold a brown belt and am now striving to earn my black. I also love learning and teaching new games to players of all ages.
Finally, I have recently joined Global View Investment Advisors, LLC as a wealth planning strategist. Global View is a totally separate business from Schumacher Law, LLC, and no fees are shared between the firms. If you were looking to learn more about my activities with Global View, you may wish to visit its website at www.globalviewinv.com.
